Nobody goes untouched by hurt, grief or pain, and every tragic loss or event has the potential to open up or close down the fruitfulness of our lives intended by God. The death of someone we love, of a dream, a hope or a relationship can crush and paralyse, even immobilise us. It can empower doubt, release hopelessness and rob us of energy. But…it can also drive us to God; maybe to rail at him—which is fine! But also to lament before him, pour out our pain to him, and ply him with angry questions born of our despair.
