Our Place

Do you have additional needs children who find the activity and fast pace of NW Festival a challenge? We have a space for you and your kids that can be a safe and restful haven for some time out! It’s called Our Place and will be open as a drop off space for those with physical or learning needs, and is an equipped and fun space for you to hang alongside your child with neuro divergence. Whether your child has a physical impairment, learning need, temporary need or chronic illness – we’re here to serve you during session time, with some afternoon slots too. Please register in the usual way noting Our Place on the registration, but in addition please email ourplace@newwine.org.nz to let us know you’re coming.

Zone Leader - Sheena Harris

When you meet Sheena, you’ll likely notice her Scottish lilt straight away. Making her home in NZ for nearly 17 years with husband Nathan and 3 teenage boys. Sheena has always loved working with children, and has invested herself as a home educator and coach for the past 12 years. Reaching out to those with additional needs has always been part of who Sheena is but when her eldest developed Juvenile Arthritis at the age of 7, it brought a whole new perspective. Understanding what it’s like to parent a child with limited mobility and chronic pain is at the heart of Sheena’s desire to bring Our Place to NW.
